Our curriculum is a unique fusion of the Nigerian and British curricula. The school is divided into the Junior Secondary and Senior Secondary sections. In Junior School the students spend three years and take two end- of-course examinations; The Lagos State Basic Certificate of Education (BECE) and Checkpoint, organized by Cambridge International Examination (CIE).
Students spend 3 years in Senior School. At the end of the second year (SS2) students sit for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations and in their final year (SS3) they take the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) organized by WAEC.
As part of our mission to deliver 21st Century premium education, the combined dual curriculum is constantly being redesigned and refined to create in delivery personalised curriculum pathways for each child. This is used to set individual targets and create self-driven students who are ready to take control of their learning. Great emphasis is placed on learning, as the teachers have high expectations whilst allowing students to learn at their own pace, in their preferred learning style using offline and online learning resources.
Our students are supported through carefully designed and targeted intervention strategies. Atlantic Hall students take assessment and diagnostic tests regularly to determine academic potential and attainment. The analysed data from these tests helps refine the child’s profile and is also used to inform learner groupings and methods of instruction. The information from these tests is also shared with the students and their parents using appropriate reporting procedures. Should the need arise and when deemed appropriate, weekend intervention lessons are also organised to cater for those students who require extra support to enhance their learning.
The school maintains a population of about 650 students from ages 10 to 17; with a staff /student ratio of 9:1.
Classes are small, usually of about 20 students where the staff can closely monitor the academic ability of each student. Lessons are supported by a carefully constructed “Prep” timetable and assessment for learning which allows for further discussion between teacher and pupil. Students are encouraged through positive reinforcement to excel.
Whilst high academic standards are a priority, we believe that by educating the whole child, we expose the inherent qualities and potential in each one. We therefore offer a wide range of co-curricular and robust sporting activities. We also encourage our students to explore the spiritual and moral dimensions of life.
