The 5th of October, 2021, marked yet another important day in the chronicles of Atlantic Hall, when two of our alumni (Mohammed Abdul-Razaq and Ikenna Ume-Ezeoke Class of 2002), who are now soaring high in the international space, paid a courtesy call to the school in Lagos. Atlantic Hall, an icon in the crème de la crème of secondary school education in Nigeria, equips her students with both Academic Excellence and Integrity of Character. The school boasts a plethora of outstanding National and International academic results and awards, and a callibre of alumni in various fields in Nigeria and overseas, ranging from Politics, International Economics, Technology and Sports.

Mohammed Abdul-Rasaq, an Alumnus and Founder of Dudden Hill Foundation, a non-profit organization that invests in human capital and his team of experts held a symposium with the during the visit. The goal was to share his vast knowledge and experience in International Business and Human Capital Development with the students. He stressed the fact that Atlantic Hall, not only prepares students to face future competitive challenges, but also instills in them the skills and the will to excel in the global terrain. Abdul-Rasaq is presently serving as Vice President in the Financial Advisory Division of African Finance Corporation (AFC). He currently ranks 25th in the Choiseul top 100 African Economic Leaders for Tomorrow.

The SS3 students who provided intellectual and probing questions on Career Development and Internship Programmes, skillfully demonstrated how they have dexterously chosen a career path after a series of counseling from the Advisory Unit of the School and how they are prepared for the global challenges of the future.

Belema Jaja spoke after the event at the School atrium.  She expressed her pride and joy that the school (Atlantic Hall) produces such intellectuals that can provide unparalleled leadership in various disciplines across the world. The Foundation’s program, which is in tandem with the vision of Atlantic Hall, is dedicated to building young Nigerians to being independent and learning how to invest in future endeavours.

Something that caught my attention was the Internship slots,’ Nto-Mba Marvellous said. ‘The Dudden Hill Foundation App is very user- friendly. It helps with CV, university application, use of spread sheets and other packages. It is a non-profit organization and absolutely free of charge.’

Divine Ake, a Special Adviser to the Principal, openly expressed her joy in meeting an Alumnus who is an international expert in Human Capital Development, and was able to share his immense experience from a student perspective. Ebun Olaopa, the Deputy Head-Girl Prefect hopes for more synergy between the Foundation and Atlantic Hall.

Once again, one of Atlantic Hall’s finest has demonstrated that Secondary Schools in Nigeria should not only tutor students just to pass examinations but take seriously the business of training students to excel in the dynamic job market and turning them into excellent world leaders in all walks of life.
