ONTARIO SECONDARY SCHOOL DIPLOMA

Atlantic Hall was approved by the Ontario Ministry of Education, Canada, to offer the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) in Nigeria in partnership with KAI Academy International, Ontario.

The OSSD is a secondary school graduation diploma that can assist students to gain admission into universities in Canada. It is also accepted worldwide as a university entry requirement.

To earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, a student must earn a minimum of 30 credits, including 18 compulsory credits and 12 optional credits. Students must also complete 40 hours of community involvement activities and must pass the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course (OSSLC).

One benefit of this partnership is that the enrolled students are assigned an official Ontario Student Number (OSN), which is Canadian student trademark. The classes, assessments (OSSLT), and community involvement work would be done at Atlantic Hall, under the supervision of the Ontario Education Quality and Accountability Office, which will save parents from the foreign exchange cost of sending their wards to Canada.

Another benefit is that a student’s WAEC/IGCSE results do not matter since the OSSD allows students to move from non-science courses to science courses and vice versa.

Students enrolled in the program also get accustomed to the Canadian Higher Education style of learning which is broadly different from the UK/Nigeria style, thus when students move to Canada, the academic transition should prove to be much easier. In addition, this program also takes care of the whole process of securing the child’s admission and providing career services including scholarship opportunities.

The OSSD is more valid for applying for a study permit compared to WAEC and IELTS documentation. Students who undertake and are successful with the programme will have the privilege of being tutored by both Nigerian and Canadian teachers.

Atlantic Hall provides an all-inclusive fee package covering tutoring, notebooks & textbooks, OSSLT Assessment, admission processing and much more.

The programme is presently available to SS2 (grade 11) and SS3 (grade 12) students who wish to further their education abroad after Atlantic Hall.
